The Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ comes on a blister card with the standard Kingston packaging. On the back of this card is a list of features and an OS compatibility table. What separates the DataTraveler Locker+ from other hardware-encrypted drives is the Mac OS X 10.4-10.6 capability.
I received email from Kingston. They have issued a firmware updater for DTVP, DTLPG2 and DT400. I tried formatting my DTVP/4GB via Parallels 9 on both my 10.10 Mac and 10.9 Mac via Windows XP and 8.1 and kept getting 'format failure'. Kingston stated I probably had a drive failure so they will replace my device with a newer DTVP30/4GB device. Hooray for them! Here is the email I received, but be aware you must run format in Windows.

Obviously you would need another Mac or PC to rescue the data from the original disk. Have you got a backup of the OS before you installed 10.10?
If not install 10.9 onto another USB stick or disk, boot from that, install Kingstons software & use that to recover the data. Virtualbox should also work if you have a Windows OS to install to a VM (or use the free ). Truecrypt or PGP may be another option for encrypting that works across several platforms, it's difficult to find a reliable solution that also gets prompt updates for every OS. It may make sense to backup these disks to a different form of encrypted disk - it can get you around situations like this.
